What is the Egypt Letter of Guarantee?

The Letter of Guarantee is a formal authorization document issued by a licensed Egyptian tourism company. It serves as an official declaration — to both the airline and Egyptian immigration — that a recognized local entity has formally accepted responsibility for the traveler’s entry and presence in Egypt.

This is not a hotel booking confirmation. It is not a generic agency letter. It is not an invitation letter. It is a specific, government-recognized document that carries legal weight under Egypt’s entry framework.

For Indian nationals, this document is mandatory — not optional. Both the Egypt eVisa portal and Egyptian immigration authorities require it before permitting entry.

Issued by a licensed Egyptian company

Only a company registered and authorized by the Egyptian government can issue a valid Letter of Guarantee — not a foreign agency, not a hotel, and not an online platform.

Formally recognized by Egyptian immigration

The document is verified on arrival at all major Egyptian airports. It confirms that the sponsoring company has accepted responsibility for the traveler's entry.

Checked by airlines before boarding

Many airlines operating from India to Egypt now check the Letter of Guarantee at departure check-in. Without it, boarding may be refused even before the traveler reaches Egypt.

Why Indian travelers need the Letter of Guarantee

The requirement is real, official, and enforced — before boarding and on arrival.

The eVisa portal warns you directly

When Indian nationals apply for the Egypt eVisa, the portal displays: 'You will not be allowed to enter the country without the guarantee of an authorized tourist agent in Egypt.' This is an official Egyptian government notification — built into the eVisa system for Indian passport holders.

It is a nationality-level requirement

The Letter of Guarantee requirement applies to all Indian passport holders — regardless of travel history, purpose of visit, or length of stay. It is not a traveler-level flag or a random system error. It is a fixed entry condition tied to Indian nationality.

It applies to all visa types

Whether you travel on an eVisa or qualify for the visa-on-arrival route, the Letter of Guarantee requirement remains in place. The visa path changes how your visa stamp is issued — it does not change the authorized agent requirement for Indian nationals.

Who can issue the Letter of Guarantee?

This is one of the most common sources of confusion. Many travelers assume that any travel agency, hotel, or online service can issue the Letter of Guarantee. This is incorrect.

These cannot issue a valid Letter of Guarantee:

Indian travel agencies or tour operators

Hotels and accommodation providers in Egypt

Hotel vouchers or booking platforms (Booking.com, etc.)

Third-party websites selling fake letters online

Foreign companies with no Egypt-based presence

Any company without an authorized airport representative

Only one type of company can issue it

A licensed Egyptian tourism company — registered in Egypt and formally authorized by the government — is the only entity that can issue a valid, accepted Letter of Guarantee.

Registered and licensed in Egypt

Authorized to issue the Letter of Guarantee

Physical airport representation on arrival

Recognized by Egyptian immigration authorities

Verifiable by airlines at departure check-in

Rimo Tours meets all four criteria

We are a licensed Egyptian tourism company with government authorization to issue the Letter of Guarantee and provide airport representation at all major Egyptian airports.

The Letter alone is not enough

A Letter of Guarantee establishes your authorization on paper. But the requirement does not stop there. Egyptian immigration expects a physical representative from the issuing company to be present at the airport on your arrival date.

This is the airport Meet & Assist — a real person, physically at the airport, who handles the immigration coordination in person. Without this presence, even a valid Letter of Guarantee may not be sufficient.

Pre-arrival coordination is also essential — ensuring that documentation is confirmed before your departure and that your arrival is expected at the airport before you board your flight.

Letter without Meet & Assist = incomplete entry support

Airlines and Egyptian immigration expect both elements to be in place. Rimo Tours always provides the Letter of Guarantee and airport Meet & Assist together — as a complete, compliant package.

Pre-arrival coordination completed

02

Meet & Assist at the airport

03

Why fake or unverifiable letters are dangerous

Letters obtained from unauthorized sources carry real, serious consequences at both departure and arrival.

Boarding refusal at departure

Airlines check the Letter of Guarantee before boarding. If your letter is fake or unverifiable, you may be refused boarding in India — before you reach Egypt.

Entry refused in Egypt

Egyptian immigration verifies the Letter on arrival. An unauthorized or forged letter will result in refusal of entry at the airport. There is no recourse at the gate.

Returned on the next flight

Travelers refused entry are typically returned on the next available flight at their own cost, with no guaranteed same-day resolution at the airport.

Letters purchased from unverified online platforms, WhatsApp groups, or non-Egyptian agencies are consistently rejected. Rimo Tours issues government-recognized Letters of Guarantee — verifiable by airlines and Egyptian immigration — as part of every entry support package.

Egypt Letter of Guarantee — common questions

Direct answers to the questions most Indian travelers ask before booking.

What is the Egypt Letter of Guarantee?
The Egypt Letter of Guarantee is a formal document issued by a licensed Egyptian tourism company that formally accepts responsibility for a traveler’s entry and presence in Egypt. It is required by Indian passport holders as a condition of entry — whether they travel on an eVisa or via the visa-on-arrival route. The document is presented to airlines at check-in and to Egyptian immigration on arrival. It is not a hotel booking, an invitation letter, or a generic agency confirmation. It is a specific legal document that must come from an officially authorized Egyptian tourism company.
Yes. Indian nationals are required to have a valid Letter of Guarantee from a licensed Egyptian tourism company before they can enter Egypt. This requirement is displayed directly on the Egypt eVisa portal during the application process — the system warns that travelers ‘will not be allowed to enter the country without the guarantee of an authorized tourist agent in Egypt.’ This is not an optional recommendation. It is an official entry condition that applies regardless of visa type, travel purpose, or travel history. Rimo Tours is an officially licensed Egyptian tourism company authorized to issue this document.
No. Only an officially licensed Egyptian tourism company based in Egypt — with government authorization to act as a formal sponsor for incoming travelers — can issue a valid Letter of Guarantee. Foreign travel agencies, Indian tour operators, hotel chains, and online booking platforms have no legal authority to issue this document. Even if they provide a letter claiming to be a guarantee, it will not be accepted by Egyptian immigration or by airlines at check-in. Rimo Tours holds the required authorization and provides verified Letters of Guarantee as part of our entry support packages.
No. A hotel booking or hotel voucher does not satisfy Egypt’s Letter of Guarantee requirement. Hotels are not authorized Egyptian tourism companies and have no standing with Egyptian immigration to issue this document. Some travelers mistakenly believe that showing a hotel reservation is sufficient — it is not. Egyptian immigration will not accept it, and airlines may refuse boarding if proper documentation is not presented. The Letter of Guarantee must come from an officially authorized Egyptian tourism company with a licensed status recognized by the Egyptian government.

In Rimo Tours’ packages, yes. The Letter of Guarantee is always issued together with airport Meet & Assist — because the document alone is not sufficient for full entry compliance. Egyptian immigration expects a physical representative from the issuing company to be present at the airport on your arrival date. Our Bronze Package includes the Letter of Guarantee, pre-arrival coordination, and airport Meet & Assist. Our All-Inclusive Package includes all of that plus full visa application handling. Both packages ensure that your documentation and airport presence are fully aligned.

We do not recommend it, and in most cases it is not sufficient for compliant entry. Egypt’s authorized agent requirement means that a licensed company must not only issue the Letter but also provide a physical representative at the arrival airport. Some carriers also check the completeness of your entry support before boarding. A Letter of Guarantee without the corresponding airport Meet & Assist may be rejected by airlines or flagged by Egyptian immigration. Rimo Tours always provides both together — the document and the on-the-ground airport presence — as a complete entry support package.
The consequences are serious. Airlines check Letters of Guarantee at departure check-in — a fake or unverifiable letter may result in boarding refusal before you leave India. If you reach Egypt, Egyptian immigration verifies the document on arrival. If it is fake, unverifiable, or issued by an unauthorized entity, you will be refused entry and placed on the next available return flight at your own cost. This is not a theoretical risk — it has happened to travelers who purchased letters from unverified online sources. Rimo Tours issues government-recognized Letters of Guarantee that are fully verifiable by airlines and Egyptian immigration.
We recommend booking at least 5–7 business days before your departure date for the Bronze Package. For the All-Inclusive Package — where we also handle the visa application — 10–14 business days gives us the time needed for a clean process. The Letter of Guarantee must be issued and confirmed before your departure, as airlines may check it at check-in. Booking late increases risk and limits your options. For urgent situations within a few days of travel, contact us immediately on WhatsApp — expedited handling is available in some cases, though we cannot guarantee it in all situations.
Yes. The visa-on-arrival route — available to Indian nationals holding valid residency or qualifying visas from GCC countries, the UK, USA, Schengen zone, Canada, or Australia — changes only how your visa stamp is obtained. It does not remove the Letter of Guarantee requirement. Indian nationals using the visa-on-arrival path still need a valid Letter of Guarantee from a licensed Egyptian tourism company, and airport Meet & Assist on arrival is still required. Both our Bronze and All-Inclusive packages cover the visa-on-arrival path. The difference between the packages is only whether we handle a visa application for you.
