Egypt's immigration authority mandates that Indian nationals be formally sponsored by a licensed Egyptian tourism company. This is encoded into the eVisa system and applies to all Indian passport holders.
Airlines operating routes from India to Egypt check documentation at check-in. Without a valid Letter of Guarantee, some carriers will refuse to board you — before you reach Egypt.
Only a licensed, Egypt-based tourism company can satisfy this requirement. Foreign agencies, online platforms, and hotels do not qualify — even if they claim to offer a guarantee letter.
Four criteria that define a genuine authorized tourist agent — and that any provider you use must fully satisfy.
The company must hold a valid tourism license issued by the Egyptian government. This is the legal basis for issuing a Letter of Guarantee. Without this license, the company has no authority to issue the document.
Not every licensed travel company can issue the Letter of Guarantee. The company must be specifically authorized to act as a formal sponsor for incoming travelers. This is distinct from general tour operator licensing.
A physical representative from the company must be available at the arrival airport on your travel date. This is required by Egyptian immigration and forms an essential part of the entry support process.
The authorized agent must coordinate with the traveler before departure — confirming documentation, aligning with airlines if needed, and ensuring everything is in place before the travel date.
Indian travelers are sometimes advised — or attempt — to use one of the following as a substitute for the Letter of Guarantee. None of them work. Egyptian immigration and airlines reject them consistently.
Hotels are not authorized Egyptian tourism companies and cannot issue the Letter of Guarantee.
Accommodation proof has no legal standing with Egyptian immigration for this requirement.
