The official Egypt eVisa warning, explained

When Indian nationals apply for the Egypt eVisa at evisa.visa.gov.eg, the portal displays this notification:

Official Egypt eVisa Portal Warning

“You will not be allowed to enter the country without the guarantee of an authorized tourist agent in Egypt.”

This is not a system glitch, a generic message, or an optional recommendation. It is an official notification from the Egyptian government indicating a specific entry requirement for your nationality.
Ignoring it — or attempting to travel with inadequate documentation — results in boarding refusal or entry denial at the Egyptian airport.

It is a legal entry requirement

Egypt's immigration authority mandates that Indian nationals be formally sponsored by a licensed Egyptian tourism company. This is encoded into the eVisa system and applies to all Indian passport holders.

It is enforced before you board

Airlines operating routes from India to Egypt check documentation at check-in. Without a valid Letter of Guarantee, some carriers will refuse to board you — before you reach Egypt.

It requires a specific type of company

Only a licensed, Egypt-based tourism company can satisfy this requirement. Foreign agencies, online platforms, and hotels do not qualify — even if they claim to offer a guarantee letter.

What "authorized tourist agent in Egypt" actually means

Four criteria that define a genuine authorized tourist agent — and that any provider you use must fully satisfy.

Licensed and registered in Egypt

The company must hold a valid tourism license issued by the Egyptian government. This is the legal basis for issuing a Letter of Guarantee. Without this license, the company has no authority to issue the document.

Authorized to issue the Letter of Guarantee

Not every licensed travel company can issue the Letter of Guarantee. The company must be specifically authorized to act as a formal sponsor for incoming travelers. This is distinct from general tour operator licensing.

Physical airport Meet & Assist presence

A physical representative from the company must be available at the arrival airport on your travel date. This is required by Egyptian immigration and forms an essential part of the entry support process.

Pre-arrival coordination before departure

The authorized agent must coordinate with the traveler before departure — confirming documentation, aligning with airlines if needed, and ensuring everything is in place before the travel date.

These do not satisfy the authorized agent requirement

Indian travelers are sometimes advised — or attempt — to use one of the following as a substitute for the Letter of Guarantee. None of them work. Egyptian immigration and airlines reject them consistently.

Hotel booking confirmation

Hotels are not authorized Egyptian tourism companies and cannot issue the Letter of Guarantee.

Hotel voucher or accommodation receipt

Accommodation proof has no legal standing with Egyptian immigration for this requirement.

Foreign travel agency letter

Only a licensed Egypt-based company can issue this document. Foreign agencies have no authorization.

Letter purchased from an online platform

Unverifiable letters from third-party websites are flagged by airlines and immigration. The consequences are serious.

A company with no airport representative

The Letter alone is insufficient. A physical airport Meet & Assist presence is required on arrival.

A generic 'invitation letter'

Informal invitation letters are not the same as a formal Letter of Guarantee from a licensed Egyptian tourism company.

The correct documentation

Letter of Guarantee from a licensed Egyptian tourism company

Company officially authorized by Egyptian tourism authorities

Physical airport Meet & Assist representative on arrival

Pre-arrival coordination completed before departure

Documentation verifiable by airlines and Egyptian immigration

Rimo Tours meets all four criteria

We are a licensed Egyptian tourism company with government authorization to issue the Letter of Guarantee and provide airport representation at all major Egyptian airports.

This is not just an airport issue — airlines check too

Your documentation is checked at two separate points — before you board and on arrival in Egypt.

Checkpoint 1

At departure — airline check-in

Checkpoint 2

On arrival — Egyptian immigration

Why fake or unverifiable letters are dangerous

Some travelers attempt to use letters obtained from unauthorized sources. The consequences are direct and serious.

Denied boarding

The airline refuses to board you at your departure airport. You do not reach Egypt. There is no right of appeal at the gate.

Entry refused in Egypt

Egyptian immigration rejects the letter on arrival. You are held at the airport and not permitted to enter the country.

Returned on next flight

The traveler is placed on the next available return flight at their own expense. No refund, no recourse, no exceptions.

Letters purchased from unverified online platforms, WhatsApp groups, or non-Egyptian agencies are not recognized by Egyptian immigration or major airlines. Rimo Tours issues government-recognized Letters of Guarantee — verifiable by both airlines and Egyptian immigration on arrival.

Authorized tourist agent — common questions

Factual answers to the highest-intent questions about Egypt’s authorized agent requirement.

What is an authorized tourist agent in Egypt?
An authorized tourist agent in Egypt is a licensed Egyptian tourism company officially registered with Egypt’s tourism authority. This status allows the company to issue a Letter of Guarantee — a formal document recognized by Egyptian immigration and airlines as proof that an approved local entity has accepted responsibility for a traveler’s visit. Not every travel agency qualifies. The company must be based in Egypt, licensed by the relevant government body, and capable of providing a physical representative at the arrival airport. Rimo Tours holds this authorization and operates at all major Egyptian airports.
Yes. Indian passport holders are required by Egyptian immigration to have a valid Letter of Guarantee from a licensed Egyptian tourism company before they can enter Egypt. This requirement applies whether you travel on an eVisa or through the visa-on-arrival route. The Egypt eVisa portal explicitly displays this: ‘You will not be allowed to enter the country without the guarantee of an authorized tourist agent in Egypt.’ This is not optional guidance — it is an official entry condition for Indian nationals. Rimo Tours provides this guarantee as part of both our entry support packages.
No. Only an officially licensed Egyptian tourism company based in Egypt can issue a valid Letter of Guarantee. Foreign travel agencies, Indian tour operators, and online travel platforms — regardless of their size or reputation — do not have the legal authorization to issue this document. A letter issued by an unauthorized entity will not be accepted by Egyptian immigration or airlines. It may result in boarding refusal or entry denial at the airport. The Letter must come from a company formally authorized by Egyptian authorities — such as Rimo Tours.
No. A hotel booking, hotel voucher, or accommodation confirmation does not satisfy Egypt’s authorized tourist agent requirement. Hotels are not licensed Egyptian tourism companies and cannot issue a Letter of Guarantee. Similarly, an online booking platform confirmation — regardless of whether the hotel is in Egypt — carries no legal standing with Egyptian immigration. Some travelers attempt to present hotel confirmations as proof of arrangements, but these are consistently rejected. Only a formal Letter of Guarantee from an authorized Egyptian tourism company fulfills the requirement.
Egyptian immigration authorities verify Letters of Guarantee on arrival, and many airlines now check them at departure check-in. If your letter is fake, issued by an unauthorized source, or cannot be verified, the consequences are serious. You may be denied boarding at your departure airport. If you reach Egypt, you may be refused entry and returned on the next available flight. There is no appeal process at the airport. Travelers who have used letters purchased from unauthorized online platforms have faced exactly these outcomes. Rimo Tours issues government-recognized Letters of Guarantee that are verifiable by airlines and Egyptian immigration.
Yes. Qualifying for visa on arrival — based on valid residency or qualifying visas from GCC countries, the UK, USA, Schengen zone, Canada, or Australia — only changes how your visa stamp is issued. It does not remove Egypt’s authorized agent requirement. Indian nationals using the visa-on-arrival route still need a valid Letter of Guarantee and airport Meet & Assist on arrival. The authorized agent requirement is a nationality-level entry condition, not a visa-type condition. Both our Bronze and All-Inclusive packages cover the visa-on-arrival path fully.
For Indian nationals, airport Meet & Assist is a required component of compliant Egypt entry — not an optional upgrade. The Letter of Guarantee establishes your authorization on paper. The airport Meet & Assist provides the physical representative at the arrival airport that Egyptian immigration expects to be present. A Letter of Guarantee without a physical airport representative leaves the entry process incomplete. Airlines also verify documentation before boarding, and pre-arrival coordination ensures your documentation is aligned before departure. Together, the Letter of Guarantee and airport Meet & Assist form the complete entry support package.
Yes. Many international airlines — particularly carriers operating routes from India to Egypt — now verify the Letter of Guarantee at check-in before boarding. This is separate from immigration checks at the Egyptian airport. If you cannot present a valid Letter of Guarantee at check-in, some airlines will refuse to board you. This means the requirement must be satisfied before you leave your country of departure, not only on arrival in Egypt. Rimo Tours provides the Letter of Guarantee and pre-arrival coordination as part of both packages — ensuring your documentation is confirmed before your departure date.
